Australian Unity Pro-D Investment Funds – Monthly Fund Updates for July 2024
In July, share markets rose despite Middle East unrest and weak earnings from Alphabet and Tesla. Slowing inflation in the US and Australia, along with potential rate cuts from the US Federal Reserve, boosted sentiment.
Australian shares increased by 4.1%, led by Consumer Discretionary, Financials, and Industrials, while A-REITs surged 6.8%. The Australian 10-year bond yield fell to 4.12%, and the US 10-year bond yield dropped to 4.03%. Currency-hedged international equities gained 1.2%, while unhedged investors saw returns of 4.1% due to a weaker Australian dollar.
